This is an odd place for those wanting to get off the
beaten track. Paso Nuevo is a very very small fishing
village north of Monteria on the coast. It famous for its
crab festival at the end of July and for the little mud
baths on a guys property. There are a couple of mud
pools not that deep and well I prefer Arboletes a lot but
this place deserves a mention.
You pay the owner of the land 1.000 pesos to use his mud baths. He can also arrange
accommodation in extremely basic rooms or in a hammock. The owner is a guy in his forties
and he lives alone with a few dogs and a sheep. To get here you need to come from Monteria
to the town of San Bernado del Viento and from there hire a motor bike and driver to take you
the twenty minutes to the beach.
