Services Offered at the
Black Sheep Hostel
Office/ internet cafe
The office is located at the front of the house facing the street. There are four new Dell
computers all with SKYPE installed to make long distance calls. All the computers have
web-cameras and headphones. The speed is
the fastest available in a hostel in Colombia
at 2,0
00kbs, enough to watch live streaming rugby. There is also wireless internet
available. You can also download/ burn all your photos to CD for no extra cost
. We have a
SD card reader if you don't have the cables.
Kitchen
We have a big kitchen where you can cook all you want. Oven, microwave and gas cookers. Also two big fridges
to store all your food. One of the biggest supermarkets in town is only five minutes away. There is free coffee
available all day. We have a big blender to make juices. Also don't forget that it is perfectly safe to drink the tap
water in Medellin
Television room
During April, 2008, I finally joined the flat screen revolution and
bought a 42 inch plasma which hangs proudly on the wall
upstairs in the television room. We have direct tv so all the
football, rugby games you want are live. Also we have a hundred
or so DVDs to watch for free.
Barbecue area
There is an outside patio with a big Argentinian style coal BBQ. You can use it whenever you
like or we normally have a big cook up on Sundays. Its a great feed as much as you can eat,
sausages, steak, chicken salads and potatoes.  We have just bought a huge new bbq. We
can cook for up to forty people. A great night.
Bedrooms Safe to say we have some of the most comfortable
beds in Colombia. Most were made to order and are a full two
metres long. Colombians are short so they have short beds. We like
the big beds.  I think this is the only hostel in Colombia with two m.
long beds. There are dorm rooms with four, six or eight beds. There
are also three double rooms available and a single. Maybe I'll make
a few more in the coming months.
Lockers/ Safety deposit.
This is a pretty safe hostal and nothing big has ever gone missing. However we do provide free lockers for those who
want to lock away there stuff. Just bring a padlock. The main door is always locked and the person on duty has the only
key. Visitors are allowed in the hostal social areas but not in the guest rooms and only until eleven in the evening. After
11 its just the guests, cats and the guy on the desk!
Bathrooms
There are nine toilets and six showers scattered around the house. If you've been hanging out for hot water for a while
you're in luck because we have gas heated showers, nice and hot!
This is the best located hostel in Medellin. In
one of the safest areas and nicest tree lined
streets with very little traffic. Only five minutes
walk to the metro station from which you can
get all around town and to the bus terminal.
Also only minutes walk to malls, cheap
restaurants, bars, clubs, the main University
and anything else you might need
Around the hostal there are plenty of outside areas to hang out in,
something you may not find in other city hostels. There is a big balcony on
the second floor outside the tele room with 2 hammocks.
There is a reception/ office area which is staffed 24 hours a day. All the
workers in the hostel are Colombian students studying at University and
working part time in the hostal. Those in the day speak fluent English as well
while those working at night normally only speak Spanish. A good
opportunity to get some practise in. Im around every day also to help out
with whatever you may need, travel advice, psychiatry help, AA meetings,
etc!
There are also a few hammocks in the garden at the front of the hostal and
around the side.
A ten minute walk away is the Zona Rosa of Medellin and all the bars and clubs
you will need. If you want to go to the cinema, the biggest mall in Medellin is a ten
minute walk away. There you can also buy whatever you need and there is a
McDonalds if your desperate.

On-site Spanish School: I think its fair to say we have the best Spanish teacher in town, Yadira, she is to be found most days up on
the balcony teaching Spanish. Private lessons are 16.000 pesos per hour and great value. Even if you're not staying in the hostel you
can take classes here.
Information: Perhaps most importantly this is the best place to come in Medellin if you want information on travelling around Colombia.
I have been in Colombia for over six years and have travelled extensively around the country in that time. I can help you plan your trip,
tell you how to get to Panama overland, do some trips down the river to Venezuela, get off the gringo trail, whatever you like. If you want
to explore this amazing country I'm happy to share with your my experiences. I'm not an absentee owner and spend at least sixty hours a
week in the hostel. Even if you are not staying in the hostel feel free to write me an email at     kelvin@blacksheepmedellin.com    and ask
me any question you like. I'm happy to help
